1. Introduction and Acceptance
Welcome to iMental, a mental health support platform owned by KCA University (“the University”), developed to connect individuals seeking mental health services (“Clients”) with qualified, independent therapists (“Consultants”).
By downloading, accessing, or using the iMental mobile application, the iMental website (imental.co.ke), the iMental client and consultant portal, or any related services (collectively, “the App”), you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”), as well as our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the App.
These Terms constitute a binding legal agreement between you and the University, governing your use of iMental.
2. Description of Services
iMental provides a digital platform that:
- Enables Clients to discover and book licensed or accredited mental health professionals;
- Facilitates appointment scheduling for virtual (via Google Meet) or in-person sessions;
- Processes payments through integrated third-party gateways; and
- Maintains a secure environment for user data.
iMental does not provide mental health treatment directly. Consultants are independent professionals responsible for the quality and outcome of their services.
3. Eligibility
To use iMental:
- You must be at least 18 years old, or have a legal guardian’s consent if younger;
- You must provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration;
- You must comply with applicable laws and professional standards.
The University reserves the right to verify eligibility and suspend access if false or misleading information is provided.
4. User Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and all activity under your account. You agree to:
- Use your real name and accurate information;
- Promptly notify iMental of any unauthorized use or security breach.
The University is not liable for loss or damage resulting from your failure to protect your login credentials.
5. Therapist Registration and Verification
Consultants using iMental must:
- Hold valid professional licenses or certifications recognized in Kenya;
- Provide proof of qualifications and identification for verification;
- Comply with ethical standards of professional conduct.
Verification is conducted by iMental administrators before profile activation. However, iMental does not guarantee the performance, quality, or outcome of any consultant’s services. The University is not liable for any act or omission by a Consultant.
6. Appointments and Payments
Clients can book sessions with Consultants by selecting:
- The preferred session type (virtual or in-person);
- Date, time, and available slot.
If virtual, a Google Meet link is automatically generated and shared with both parties. Payments are made securely through integrated gateways within the App.
- All fees, cancellation terms, and refund conditions are displayed during booking.
- iMental may charge service or transaction fees, which will be disclosed before payment.
- The University and iMental are not responsible for third-party payment failures or gateway issues.
7. User Conduct
You agree to use iMental responsibly and not to:
- Misrepresent your identity or purpose;
- Engage in harassment, abuse, or inappropriate behavior toward Consultants or other users;
- Attempt to reverse engineer, copy, or exploit the App’s functionality; or
- Violate any applicable law, regulation, or third-party right.
Violation may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account.
8. Privacy
Your use of iMental is governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information. By using iMental, you consent to data processing as outlined in that policy.
Data exchange between Clients and Consultants occurs independently of the University. iMental and the University do not monitor or access the content of private therapy sessions.
